The nightlife here is amazing. The town itself offers a lot of fun with small bars and kiosks lined up on the sand crowded with life. Some will be vibrantly dancing to samba while others will choose to sip capirinhas at a low key reggae bar. The main concentration of night clubs, bars and restaurants are in the city centre and Conceição lagoon. During the summer, the northern area also offers a wide choice of nightlife venues. Security is professionally administered, and everyone is checked before entering a club. Nightclubs normally charge a cover charge over and above the cost of food and drinks. A common feature on Friday nights, at various nightclubs is “Ladies Free”, where women don’t pay a cover charge until midnight. Occasional private parties as well as rave parties in the region can also be a good choice. No matter what you feel like doing, the BSA crew, having extensive knowledge in the local scene, will be ready to advise and take you to the best parties, bars, nightclubs or restaurants, guaranteeing a VIP treatment everywhere.

Sea food is the base for most of the typical dishes following the traditions of the Portuguese Azorean people who colonized the island. Shrimp is popular and the standard dish is "Sequência de Camarão" which is the shrimp prepared in different styles (steamed, fried, etc.) and served in sequence. Fish is also popular, cooked in many ways and usually served with rice and beans. During winter, the Tainha fish which is similar to striped mullet, is the most popular dish. It is stuffed and then baked. In Costa da Lagoa there are many waterfront restaurants serving great seafood at relatively low prices, but to get there you need to take a boat from the Lagoa centre marine. Santo Antônio de Lisboa and Sambaqui are good places to have a drink and eat some oysters while watching the sunset on Northern Bay. In the central area many restaurants serve international food, such as Italian, German, Mexican, sushi, pizzas, burgers and others.

Two shopping malls and hundreds of stores in the central area will provide you with anything you need. From surf shops to electronics you will always find a bargain. Hand crafts and souvenirs can also be found everywhere. Florianopolis’ handicraft artists produce ceramic utensils – pots, vases and jugs – and decorative items, representing the folklore, religious feasts and the people of the island. Ceramics, embroidery, and “Floripa” stamped t-shirts are the most popular souvenirs.

The city has few Museums, but has a wealth of open-air sites such as the forts, Azorean villages, and rock art archaeological sites. The main archeological sites containing rock art can be found at Ingleses beach, Santinho beach and Campeche Island. The oldest is about 4500 years of age. The Historical Museum of Santa Catarina in the centre is a neo classical building and displays collections of state history.

Enjoy a daytrip aboard a schooner boat around the whole island, where you will visit many historical places such as the natural reserve of Anhatomirim (once a fort to protect the northern entrance to the island. For a shorter trip, the option is in the Lagoa da Conceicao, sailing to a neighborhood (Costa da Lagoa) accessible only by boat where one of the best seafood in the island is served. |

It’s a small island situated a few miles of the shore right in front of Campeche beach. For a few dollars you can take a small boat and spend a day in a practically virgin island, snorkeling, hiking, or just enjoying the beach, along with some fish and coconut water served by local fisherman.

For those who love a challenging hike and beautiful scenario, the trail to Lagoinha do Leste is the right spot. It is about 45 min long, up and down the hill. Once on top you will be astonished with the view to this inhabited beach. Down to the sand its not any different. Behind the beach there is a natural water lagoon that flows down in a channel to the ocean. Depending on the time of the year you will not find anyone there but the few local fisherman that live there. There are many other trails in the island to explore.
